luana's visit

this crazy museum (contemporary art) is in Niteroi, on the other side of the bay from Rio. one night we went to the Copacabana Palace (26 star hotel) for drinks. and we held up the snazzy placemats. we also went to the old presidential living quarters (before Brasília was constructed and the govt. was moved there) and, on more that one occasion, drove through the tunnel that passes below Brasil's largest slum (Rocinha).

maracanã stadium

the gargantuan 1950 world cup stadium in which king pelé (or edson arantes do nascimento, as may be seen above... those aren't his feet, you nincompoops, those belong to my hubbykins who doesn't usually take pictures of his clodders but was stricken by the dashing resemblance) scored his 1000th goal. GOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!! there's no A in portuguese.

new years we spent on the mind-boggingly famous beaches Copacabana and Ipanema. have never or maybe faintly heard of them? gigantically uncouth of you.
